TCF Canada Writing Task 2 is often described as the “experience” task. That description is useful, but incomplete.
You may need to recount a holiday, new job, family celebration or sports competition. You may also need to present your profession to a school, recommend a venue to company management, or respond to a public question with examples from your life.
The subject is only one part of the task. You must also recognise:
who will read the text
why you are writing
whether the task asks you to narrate, describe, evaluate, recommend or complain
which details the instructions explicitly require
Task 2 normally requires 120–150 words. The twenty situations below were associated with TCF Canada sessions and preparation-community archives during 2025–2026.

These prompts have been paraphrased or reconstructed from candidate reports and third-party archives. They are not official examination papers and do not predict future sessions. They are provided as illustrative training material to help you understand the types of situations you may encounter.

1. Moving from the City to the Countryside
Paraphrased prompt: You left the city to live in the countryside. Write on an Internet forum about the reasons for your decision and the advantages of your new life.

Do not overlook: The task asks why you moved and what improved—not merely a description of rural scenery.
2. Studying at a Foreign University
Paraphrased prompt: Write a blog article about a period spent at a university abroad and share your impressions.

4. Working Abroad
Paraphrased prompt: You currently work in another country. Tell your friends about this new professional experience and what you like most.

Paraphrased prompt: You attended an important event such as a birthday or wedding. Write an account explaining what happened and what affected you most.

Do not overlook: Remain factual and controlled. An angry list without dates, examples or a request is less effective.

The correct structure depends on the communication action. A complaint cannot use the same organisation and register as a message to friends about a wedding.

Before submitting, compare your response with the instruction and ask:
Who is reading this text?
What kind of text am I producing?
Have I covered every detail named in parentheses?
Did I recount events in a clear order?
Have I explained my opinion rather than adding one adjective at the end?
Is my register suitable for friends, a forum, management or a company?
Is the response within the required word range?
