This practice test shows sample questions for level A2 of your French exam. It covers the four different sections of your French exam. You will be able to work on Comprehension de L’oral, Comprehension des Écrits, Production Écrite and Production orale.

DELF A2 Guide: How to Answer This Test
This test helps you review key language skills across reading, writing, speaking, and understanding directions.
Let’s break it down and show how to answer each part effectively.
Compréhension des écrits – Exercice 1
Instructions: Read the signs and match each sentence to the correct letter (A to H).
Strategy:
Read all sentences 1–5 carefully.
Then examine the visual signs (A to H).
Look for key words like “gratuit”, “interdiction”, “réduction”, “horaires”, etc.
Sample Answers:
On ne peut pas mettre sa voiture ici. → B (Défense de stationner devant le garage)
Si on veut y aller, c’est gratuit. → H (Forum des associations – Entrée libre)
C’est possible pour un adulte. → D (Film déconseillé au moins de 16 ans)
C’est moins cher en ce moment. → A (Grande braderie – 30 %, 40 %, 50 % sur les vêtements de sport)

Compréhension des écrits – Exercice 2: Lire un itinéraire
You are Pierre and you are on the Nationale 12. Your task: trace the route to M. Gaudin’s office on the map using the directions in the email.
Directions from the email:
Take the Plaisir exit
At the intersection, turn right
Then take the first street on the left
Continue until the gas station
M. Gaudin’s office is across from the pharmacy
Strategy:
Start on N12.
Take the Sortie Plaisir.
Follow the steps on the map — trace to the gas station, then to the building facing the pharmacy.
Production écrite – Correspondance
Prompt:
A French friend wants to visit your city on vacation. Write them an email with advice about:

Grammar Tip: Using the Impératif (Commands) at A2
The imperative is very common in both oral and written instructions. Use it with tu, vous, or nous:
